Basil is a quiet, editorial companion for the modern cook — a place to collect, cook, and return to the recipes you'll want to remember.
"The pantry, well-organized."— The Basil Review
§ From the Editor
Why Basil, exactly.
We built Basil because the internet has turned the recipe — once the quietest object in the kitchen — into an infinite scroll of banner ads, SEO paragraphs, and someone else's grandmother. We wanted it back: smaller, faster, useful in the moment the pan is already hot.
So Basil imports a recipe in one tap, computes its nutrition, flags your allergies, scales it up or down, plans your week, and hands you an aisle-ordered grocery list at the door. All of it, on your phone, in your own hand.
It is free. It does not track you. It is ours, and now it is also yours.

§ 02 — The Chapters
A table of contents for what Basil does — read straight through, or skip to the one you need.

Chapter ILibrary
— from any site, in a single tap
Import recipes from any website, any blog, any social post. Basil strips away the ad-laden life story, keeps the ingredients, and files the recipe into your library — ready the next time you stand at the counter with a little olive oil on your thumb.

Chapter IIPlan
— drag recipes onto a calendar
Plan a day, a week, or a month. Track macros per meal if you want, ignore them if you don't. Basil quietly suggests what to cook next, based on what's been on the table this week.

Chapter IIICook
— always-on step-by-step mode
Smart Cooking Mode keeps the screen awake, steps large, and timers waiting for you. No pinching, no scrolling with a wet thumb, no accidentally closing the recipe halfway through the roux.

Chapter IVAllergies
— for the diners who won't ask twice
Tag the allergens, the diets, the restrictions that matter in your house. Basil flags them on every recipe before the pan is hot — vegan, halal, gluten-free, low-FODMAP, all present and accounted for.

Chapter VNutrition
— calories, macros, per serving
Basil computes nutrition per serving for every recipe — calories, protein, fat, carbs, and the small details like sodium and fiber. Breakdowns at a glance, no spreadsheets required.

Chapter VIShop
— by aisle, not by recipe
Plans become shopping. Items group themselves by aisle, de-duplicate across overlapping recipes, and tick off with the satisfying strike-through of a pencil. In and out of the store, faster.
Every chapter above, in your pocket. Free on the App Store — no subscription, no credit card, no drama.

Four more features that earn their place on the shelf.

A curated recipe bank — search, save, and start cooking from a library already assembled.

Organize recipes the way you think — by mood, by household, by who's coming to dinner.

From a recipe for two to a dinner for eight. Measurements convert cleanly, no mental arithmetic.

Once imported, it's yours. Synced via iCloud, searchable by name, tag, ingredient, or time of night.
You've read about it. You've watched it. Now put it in your pocket — free on the App Store, no subscription, never was, never will be.
